The first movie that I ever saw that featured a character with my name was Ghostbusters in 1984: Sigourney Weaver was Dana Barrett, an orchestral cello player who hires the Ghostbusters to investigate the strange happenings in her apartment, and ultimately turns into a demon who is the key to another dimension. I was 8, and read all sorts of fantastical, self-important egocentric meanings that tied this character’s fate to mine. The Secret Messages series assumes this 8 year-old fantasy, and like a conspiracy theorist looking at the grassy knoll, extracts the “evidence” of what is obviously, some force that is trying to tell me something, make contact, or insight action through films and television.
